What Happens in a Personalized Yearly Reading?
A month-by-month look at your year ahead, built from your own chart — not the generic zodiac-year forecast everyone gets for free.
A personalized yearly reading maps out the year ahead across four areas — career, relationships, wealth, and health — month by month, based on your own BaZi, Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗數), and Western astrology charts rather than a generic forecast tied to your zodiac animal. You leave with a written report of 30 or more pages and a face-to-face consultation to walk through what it means for your specific situation.
Built from three systems, not one
Most of what circulates every year around Chinese New Year is generic: a forecast for your zodiac animal, based on the year’s heavenly stem and earthly branch, that applies the same way to millions of people born in the same year. A personalized reading works differently. It draws on three systems together — your BaZi (八字), your Zi Wei Dou Shu chart (紫微斗數), and Western astrology — cross-referenced against each other rather than read in isolation. That’s what makes the difference between “here’s what the Year of the [Animal] holds” and “here’s what this year holds for you.”
Tailored to where you actually are
Before I write anything, I want to know your goal for the year, your current situation, and your capacity to act on it. For a business owner or executive, that includes what industry you’re in, how large your organization is, and what position you hold.
Take two people born on the same day — one running a five-person team, one managing a division of two hundred. The chart calculation is identical. What I draw out of it isn’t: for the first, the reading leans toward what building trust with early hires looks like this year; for the second, toward navigating internal politics at scale. Same chart, different reading, because the reading is built around where you actually are.
What’s inside the report
Each month gets its own breakdown across career, relationships and social life, wealth, and health, with the favorable and unfavorable windows marked out so you know when to move and when to hold. A month might read, for instance, as strong for negotiation and weak for spending — paired with a note on what that combination means to act on, not just observe.
On top of the month-by-month detail, there’s an overall-year read: what’s driving the shape of your year, where the opportunities sit, and what to watch for so a bad month doesn’t turn into a bad decision. The aim throughout is decisions, not just descriptions — what to grab, what to sit out, and when.
A yearly reading is only as useful as it is specific. If it could apply to anyone born under your zodiac sign, it isn’t telling you anything you can act on.
When to book
I run personalized yearly readings from mid-October through early January, ahead of Chinese New Year. Booking earlier in that window gives more room for the consultation and, where relevant, for acting on what the reading turns up before the year is already underway.
If you’re weighing whether a year-ahead reading fits where you are right now, Consultation Services has the details, or you can get in touch directly to book a slot in this year’s reading window.
