Common questions
What clients usually ask
What is BaZi, in plain terms?
BaZi converts your year, month, day and hour of birth into four pairs of Chinese characters — four pillars, eight characters, which is what the name means. The five elements running through those eight characters form a structure, and reading that structure shows what is over-represented, what is thin, and when the years ahead will supply or strip those elements away.
What do you need from me for a reading?
Your date and time of birth. That is all. The more precise the hour, the finer the reading — the hour pillar is one of the four, so an unknown or rounded time removes a quarter of the chart.
What if I do not know my exact birth time?
A reading is still possible from the remaining three pillars, though it will be less precise about timing. Where the hour is genuinely unknown it can often be recovered by working backwards from events you already know happened. That is additional work and carries an additional fee.
Can BaZi tell me what is going to happen?
No, and treating it that way is the most common way people waste a reading. Destiny is not chance and it is not fixed — your chart maps your internal destiny, which you can work with directly, and your external destiny, which is harder to influence but far easier to recognise once you know the shape of it.
What a reading gives you is where your strengths sit, which conditions drain you, and which stretches of the coming years favour pushing versus consolidating.
How is this different from a Feng Shui consultation?
They address two of the Three Pillars of Luck. BaZi is Heaven Luck — the chart you were born with, your innate strengths and timing. Feng Shui is Earth Luck — your environment, which shapes roughly a third of your destiny. The remaining third is Human Luck, which is what you actually do.
Many clients start with the chart to understand direction, then use Feng Shui to make the space support it.
Is the session confidential?
Yes. Sessions are one-on-one and nothing discussed leaves the room. Where case examples appear on this site they are shared with the client’s agreement and no one is named.
